Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the IT team supporting the Content Mastering and Delivery Group. This position requires a combination of strong technical background and business acumen to effectively manage relationships between the Business and IT, as well as support the day-to-day operations and delivery of IT services. The Senior PM role serves as the conduit to the business users with the primary goal of understanding the business processes, workflows, and information requirements of the users. The role is also expected to interact with stakeholders from various business units, including CMDG, Finance, Information Security and Procurement as well as outside vendors in support of current and future efforts.
The Senior Project Manager will perform requirements analysis, create functional design specifications, document workflows, and ensure that releases are tested successfully. The candidate will also manage support requests, incident resolutions, and application outages to avoid interruptions of day-to-day business operations and processes.
The Senior Project Manager should have experience specifically working with cross-functional teams using the Agile project management methodology. The candidate must be hands on and detailed-oriented. Strong communication and listening skills are essential as well as the ability to interact with all levels of business users globally. Candidates must be self-starters with the ability to prioritize effectively. The ideal candidate should have several years of experience performing a similar role. Some technical development skills would also be beneficial but not required.
The Senior Project Manager should have the ability to drive projects and be hands-on in all aspects of the system development lifecycle including project planning/scoping, requirements gathering, system design and system testing. The ideal candidate must also have a proven track record of supporting multiple business units utilizing one application for various and disparate business processes.
Manage the GOLD application, which is a media asset inventory system used by multiple business lines within Sony. Establish and maintain system configurations and user security settings. Enable new user access to the application, respond to user issues and resolve them or escalate to the appropriate IT team or vendor. Create functional design specifications for application enhancements and submit them to application vendor. Perform unit/regression testing for bug fixes and enhancements and deploy new builds into non-Production and Production environments.
Manage the RF application used by Sony’s vault facilities for performing functions with barcoded media assets, such as picking assets for shipments, internal movements and inventory counts. Enable new user access to the application, respond to user issues and resolve them or escalate to the appropriate IT team or vendor. Create functional design specifications for application enhancements and submit them to application vendor. Perform unit/regression testing for bug fixes and enhancements and deploy new builds into non-Production and Production environments.
Manage SLNet and SSH applications that work in tandem with the RF application to establish user profile settings and transmission protocols.
Manage the GOLD application’s APIs for processing inbound XML requests from other systems and manage utilities for generating outbound XML requests to other systems.
Monitor interface activity (inbound/outbound XML requests) between GOLD and other systems, identify issues, resolve them or escalate to the appropriate IT team and verify issue resolutions.
Act as primary point of contact for all GOLD-related user issues/requests and resolve or triage them accordingly. Triage includes replicating and documenting issues and assigning them to the appropriate IT team or vendor.
Collect, review, analyze, prioritize, and manage system, reporting and user requirements from key stakeholders across disparate locations and time-zones.
Analyze requests for data updates and apply updates via batch update utility within the application or via SQL scripts. Analyze requests for data extracts and deliver via SQL scripts.
Ensure that all demand enters the IT pipeline appropriately.
Use the team’s Jira board to log all issues, document requests with sufficient detail to implement, route tickets to appropriate team members, and track all requests to completion.
Create detailed proposals, business requirements, reports, process flows, user stories, use cases, and test scenarios.
Work with the business and technical teams to clarify functional and reporting requirements.
Serve as a liaison to other teams in planning, coordination, development and deployment of multi-team enhancements or projects. Leverage SPE’s IT organization, infrastructure and technology capabilities to help deliver maximum business value.
Ensure that deliveries meet the requirements agreed upon by key stakeholders. Create test scripts to test new enhancements, functionality, and reports as needed.
Define training needs for new and existing functionality. Create user guides, release notes and training documentation as appropriate. Conduct training sessions, including virtual sessions for offices located in New York, Europe, and Asia.
Manage the UAT process by performing smoke testing, test case validation, and obtaining business approvals on UAT for scheduled deployments. Demonstrate functionality and coordinate UAT sessions with subject matter experts when appropriate.
Establish and maintain relationships with outside vendors to ensure all software/support contracts are renewed according to schedule. Work with Procurement to initiate and monitor requests for vendor purchase orders Serve as liaison between Procurement, Finance and vendors to ensure issues with vendor payments and other requests are resolved expediently.
Maintain documentation for supported applications, including backfilling missing information.
Ensure that Sony’s Global Information Security Policies and other company controls are observed and applied to all applications in the portfolio.
Respond quickly to vulnerability tests and internal and external audits.
Manage incidents on a daily basis and follow up on critical issues.
Establish and maintain clear escalation procedures so that problems and issues encountered are addressed in a timely manner. Facilitate the resolution of any issues which might arise.
Provide VIP support in conjunction with and on behalf of the Global Service (Help) Desk.

Bachelor’s degree or related professional experience
Computer Science or related Information Technology degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT or related technical professions.
Familiarity of the Agile methodology, including Scrum and Kanban
Ability to facilitate business requirements and design review sessions with customers

Ability to build basic database queries/reports to support business requirements gathering
Knowledge of SAP Ariba helpful
Knowledge of Xytech Enterprise and/or Xytech MediaPulse helpful
Experience managing/involved in projects to replace existing systems/platforms, including documenting current system capabilities, gap analysis, selection of replacement system, data conversion and system cutover preferred

Primary point of contact for user requests/issues for applications you directly support.
Provide VIP support to key business customers and executives.
Resolve or triage requests received by CMDG IT Support, including via email, phone, IM, or in-person visit.
Work with users to identify, reproduce and document reported issues with sufficient detail to be investigated by CMDG IT, Dev teams, the appropriate IT team or vendor.
Escalate priority issues and outages to CMDG IT Support, SmartEngine Dev, CMDG Reporting team or other appropriate IT teams as needed.
Respond to vulnerability tests and internal and external audits as needed, engaging teams as appropriate.
Perform detailed analysis on requirements and requests.
Create well documented stories in Jira.
Conduct requirements gathering sessions, capture well-documented requirements, workflows, functional design documents, BRDs, etc.
Create detailed screen mock-ups/design documents.
Review requirements and deliveries with appropriate dev team or vendor for implementation.
Test deliveries thoroughly (application and reporting), review issues with Dev team or appropriate vendor.
Define test cases as needed. Confirm test cases are tested and pass successfully, by yourself or another BAPM or tester.
Conduct UAT sessions, review final deliveries with requestors, obtain business/stakeholder approvals.
Create training materials for applications and workflows you directly support.
Conduct training session, both in-person and remotely, including international offices.
Create and maintain detailed deployment plans that document tasks required by all actors across the deployment lifecycle from pre-deployment steps through the deployment outage and post-deployment steps.
Deployments can include the GOLD application, GOLD APIs with related interface utilities, and RF Program with related utilities, across Production and non-Production environment's
Manage the deployment outage, guiding actors through all deployment steps, as documented in the plan.
Establish and maintain system security for all screen objects and user/group access levels.
Establish and maintain system configurations and dropdown list values, along with preference settings and defaults on a systemwide, per-module and per-user basis.
Create user accounts and update them as needed to reflect changes in assigned departments and workflows.
Help users resolve Citrix access/display issues by logging them off stalled Citrix sessions, resetting the Citrix Workplace utility on their local drive or escalating an issue to the appropriate IT team.
Analyze requests for data updates and apply updates via application’s batch update utility or via SQL scripts. Analyze requests for data extracts and deliver via SQL scripts.
Monitor interface activity between GOLD and internal/external systems by running a series of SQL scripts against the application’s Production and QA databases.
Identify interface issues and resolve them by reprocessing inbound/outbound requests as needed, restarting stalled API sessions or related utilities, or working with the appropriate IT team or outside vendor to resolve issues.
Participate in regularly scheduled server patching outages by notifying the appropriate IT team to pause/resume interface activity for the Prod or QA environment, archive server log files during the outage and restart API sessions after patching is completed.
Respond to user issues and resolve or escalate as appropriate. Resolution can include restarting services on the RF server, helping users define environmental settings or adjust saved logon settings. Escalation involves identifying issues that need to be forwarded to the appropriate IT team or outside vendor.
Well versed on DCS' organization structure.
Well versed on teams and team members that CMDG IT interacts with, including when to engage/leverage these teams and escalations are required.
Intimate knowledge of SmartEngine, Business Objects, Tableau, SPE QC, GOLD and other apps supported by CMDG IT Support.
Proficient in Agile processes.
Well versed on DCS' post-production workflows .
Proficient on tools used by CMDG IT, including Jira, SQL Server Management Studio, ServiceNow, SAP Ariba and Microsoft Office, including Visio and PowerPoint
Able to build basic queries (via SQL) and reports (via Business Objects) for business analysis and user queries
Familiar with Sony's Global Information Security Policies and company controls, and confirm they are observed and applied to CMDG IT's supported apps.
Senior PM may be assigned miscellaneous tasks by department management not defined on this worksheet; Senior PM is expected to fulfill these requests.
