SPE INTERN:

Our Emerging Talent Programs, which includes Interns, Trainees, and Finance Rotational Associates, offer unique opportunities for students, recent graduates, and emerging talent to work alongside the teams that come together to create movies, TV shows, and other great experiences. These seasonal, paid assignments provide meaningful and productive work that builds on your experience and develops your skills further. You will be provided with challenging tasks, real-world experience, and many educational and social networking opportunities.

This Fall Internship is from September through December 12th(start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work 10-29 hours/week, in person in the specified office location. This position is ideal for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university interested in continuing their education through professional experience.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Are you passionate about movies, pop culture, and data? The Theatrical Marketing Analytics & Insights team at Sony Pictures Entertainment is looking for a driven intern to join our global marketing analytics team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to support global theatrical campaigns.

The intern will work with both domestic and international teams to help gather and analyze data on audiences and marketing campaigns. Additionally, the role will assist in understanding how films are received across different markets and help surface insights that support global strategy, creative development, and audience targeting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Analysis & Insights

  • Assist in generating actionable insights around audience behavior, creative effectiveness, and box office impact.

  • Support international and domestic marketing teams in developing strategies via campaign trend analysis, social listening, and historical benchmark development.

  • Analyze campaign health and audience engagement across digital and social platforms; help identify early indicators of performance and areas for optimization.

Data Visualization & Decision Support

  • Support data analysis initiatives by creating dashboards and reporting materials using tools like Tableau and Excel.

  • Help translate data into accessible, strategic business recommendations for marketing stakeholders.

  • Work with technical and non-technical teams to deliver clear, high-impact insights.

Data Operations & Quality Control

  • Assist in preparing and integrating audience and campaign datasets for marketing performance analysis.

  • Conduct quality assurance checks using Excel and SQL to ensure accurate reporting and insight generation.

Ad-Hoc Analysis & Business Impact Projects

  • Lead or support focused projects such as competitive campaign reviews, global audience trends, or creative testing insights.

  • Partner with data science and analytics counterparts to explore custom projects impacting international insights goals

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a Graduate or MBA program, ideally with a focus in Marketing, Strategy, Business Analytics, Entertainment, or Media.

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; ability to connect insights to impact.

  • Familiarity with social media KPIs, platform-specific analytics (YouTube, Meta, TikTok, X), and global trends.

  • Excellent communication and data storytelling abilities.

  • Proficiency in Excel (including pivot tables, formulas) and working knowledge of SQL.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

  • Familiarity with social listening tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Sprinklr) and social media analytics platforms.

  • Interest in or exposure to AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) and enthusiasm for applying them to marketing workflows.

  • Broad understanding of concepts around predictive models, clustering and regression analyses.

Nice to haves:

  • Previous coursework or project experience involving media, entertainment, or digital marketing analytics.

  • Experience with Python, R, or Jupyter Notebooks is a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $37/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
