This role will be a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract starting in July 2026 and will be paid the London living wage. This role is based in London.

The Tech Dev team leads the research, evaluation, and deployment of cutting-edge technical initiatives across Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). Because SPE spans a wide range of business sectors, from production to distribution, our team members must operate with a broad technical toolkit, bringing together everything from upstream data analytics to hands-on production and post-production experience.
Within Tech Dev, the Future Entertainment Technology Group focuses on strategic, long-term growth initiatives. We explore emerging technology trends and build highly tailored technical proofs of concept (POCs) to validate future-facing ideas. All of this work is viewed through the lens of creativity and entertainment, the heart of our business.
What You’ll Do
A major responsibility of this role is technology evaluation. You’ll help assess emerging tools, platforms, and workflows across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including:
Multi-Modal Generative AI
Video Post-Production
Audio Post-Production
Development Frameworks (with a focus on emerging frameworks)
Production Tools (Cameras & Imaging)
Distribution / Pipeline Technology
You will research these areas, write detailed reports, and help build a knowledge base to be shared across the wider company.
Beyond evaluations, you’ll contribute to a broad range of innovation projects across the group. Project involvement will be fluid, dynamic, and highly collaborative. After your first six months, you’ll be encouraged to propose your own innovation project—and spend the following six months developing and activating that idea within the team.
What You’ll Learn
Extensive exposure to the entire studio ecosystem
Insights into the broader Sony Corporation, including cross-company interaction through the Distinguished Engineer Organisation
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
Hands-on experience with production technology
Practical understanding of production app development
A deep appreciation for business-led innovation within a fast-moving, creative environment
What You Have
Experience in a STEM or creative field that integrates technology, whether that's from education, work experience or extracurricular activities
A genuine passion for entertainment and emerging technology
Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
A desire to learn beyond your comfort zone and explore outside your speciality
Familiarity with development frameworks (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
Familiarity with Generative AI tools (OpenAI, Gemini, Stable Diffusion, etc.)
Experience with physical production or post-production technologies - a plus, but not necessary
Curiosity, initiative and the enthusiasm to be a boundary spanner - someone who connects ideas, teams, and disciplines
Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion
