We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Producer to join our International Formats team at Sony Pictures on a maternity cover basis.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining the highest production standards across all licensees’ unscripted productions. You will provide expert guidance and hands-on support to local producers in designated territories, ensuring that each production not only aligns with the core elements and branding of the format but also achieves its full potential in terms of quality, audience engagement, and market success.
Additionally, you will collaborate closely with internal teams, including Format Sales, Finance, Legal, Brand Management, and Licensing, to ensure seamless communication and alignment across all aspects of production, while contributing to the further development and exploitation of our formats globally.
What you'll do:
- Support international format rollouts, either on-site or remotely, as determined by production needs.
- Close, regular and personal liaison with international broadcasters, production companies and licensees. Management of licensee's contractual obligations alongside Format sales executives and International sales teams.
- Effective communication and close liaison with all departments to ensure licensees’ needs and all revenue streams are explored.
- Review completed episodes of SPT localised formats, ensuring they fall in line with SPT production requirements and brand guidelines.
- Creation and updating of detailed individual format production bibles and creating/collating materials pertinent to a production bible package.
- Some production coordinating for international format launches, including sharing production materials and administrative duties such as database management.
- Attend taping/filming of key new titles from the Sony Op Co team’s productions, to gather and document know-how for international rollout.
- Represent SPE alongside the Sony Distribution and Format Sales team when discussing new business with prospective clients worldwide, as well as cultivating existing relationships at client meetings and international trade shows (such as London Screenings).
What you have:
- Experience on Production as a Production Supervisor or Assistant Producer level for studio, reality, and/or factual entertainment formats essential. International experience is desirable.
- A thorough understanding of all aspects of studio and factual entertainment production, including casting, production planning, budgeting and scheduling.
- Broad knowledge of safety requirements in a studio or on location.
- Sound knowledge of diversity requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with talent, both behind and in front of the camera, in local markets and across the globe.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with attention to detail, including the setting of priorities. Have a flexible approach, as well as possess the ability to cope well under pressure, multi-task, and prioritise effectively and efficiently, to ensure work is carried out accurately, in a timely manner.
- Ability to work with minimum of supervision and with initiative, and to make administrative decisions based on an understanding of relevant policies or operational requirements.
- An appreciation of customer needs and expectations thereby providing an excellent customer service.
- Must be adept at problem-solving, particularly in a highly pressured studio environment.
- Team player – demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of unique team, and through the wider corporate structure, mobilizing expertise across the company to achieve desired goals.
- Possess strong persuasive and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels and gain immediate creditability across the business
- A highly motivated individual with the enthusiasm, resilience, and the drive to make things happen.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and a creative approach to all aspects of the role.
- Experience and proven ability to successfully problem solve and adept at conflict resolution.
- Highly proficient and proven level of IT skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft Office, Internet & Email packages.
- Proficiency in one foreign language (or more) is desirable but not essential.
