SPE Finance and Accounting is transforming the organization from a Line of Business and territory orientation to one which is global, enterprise-based, focusing on process improvement, standardization, reducing complexity and efficient use of technology. The global team’s objectives are to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall team while enhancing the value and accessibility of the data created by the accounting processes which will enable the commercial teams to drive toward greater revenue growth and margin improvements.

The Global Financial Operations (GFO) team is responsible for the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely financial statements and partners with the Divisional Finance whose focus is to improve revenue and reduce costs as well as forecast performance. GFO serves as a liaison point between the lines of business and SPE’s third party provider of accounting services, Capgemini.

Responsibilities and Expectations

Based in our Manila office, the Manager, Global Finance Operations, Home Entertainment will be responsible for the month-end close, financial reporting, and ad hoc requests coupled with continuous improvement, standardization and simplification of those functions and outputs for the SPHE physical distribution.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely P&L and Balance Sheet, accounts reconciliations, flux/variance analyses of SPHE physical distribution.

  • Analyze key accounts and validate assumptions / methodologies periodically including Return Reserve, Rebate Accrual, Inventory, Inventory Obsolescence, Prepaids, Deferred Revenue, and Intercompany Accounts.

  • Ensure accuracy of Revenues, Contra Revenues, Manufacturing Cots, Distribution Costs, and Marketing expense at the title / territory / market detailed level.

  • Ensure master data accuracy to support proper accounting and reporting of the SPE affiliate physical distribution.

  • Analyze impact of the SPE affiliate distribution on SPHE operating cash flow.

  • Responsible for special reports relating to the SPE affiliate distribution, including development of the reports.

  • Review and approve tasks performed by Capgemini including journal entries, Title Details, error handling, account reconciliations, and various reports.

  • Review Capgemini Desk Top Procedures and Cadency Tasks to make sure they are up to date.

  • Provide guidance to Capgemini and training on new processes and critical tasks.

  • Recommend improvement and simplification of accounting processes to optimize efficiency and reduce paperwork costs.

  • Responsible for SPHE User Acceptance Tests due to implementation of new process or enhancements.

  • Support various ad hoc requests and analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.

  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred.

  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in General Ledger Accounting.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and SAP/BW.

  • Understanding of home entertainment distribution accounting (Sales, Returns, Inventory) a plus.

  • Strong MS Excel skills required.

  • US company experience is preferred.

  • Strong follow-through on day-to-day tasks; ability to bring all tasks to timely completion.

  • Strong level of communication and interpersonal skills collaborating with team members in different time zones and countries.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to be thorough with attention to details.

  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and problem solve with reasonable independence.

  • Flexible; able to work in an environment where priorities change regularly, and continual process improvement is expected.

  • Critical thinker with ability to see the forest, but at the same time meticulous enough to ensure quality and accuracy of work product.

  • Strong ability to collaborate across team environment.
